N11m Scam: NIDO-Qatar reacts as Suspects Defame Oga Journalist Seeking Aid for Stranded Bizwoman
Following a detailed exposé by Deji Lambo, popularly known as Oga Journalist, Blessing Babalola recounted how she was allegedly defrauded of N11m by four travel agents—Paul Oghinan Egbedo, Bukola Akinniyi, Bukola Owatemi, and Chichi Rosemary Ajoku.
Shortly after, another video surfaced, in which Babalola appealed for N3.5m to cover her flight ticket and heavy overstay penalties in Qatar, where she remains stranded.
But instead of clarifying the situation, journalist Maria Adeleke, who had earlier warned Lambo against pursuing Babalola’s case, published a report portraying the fundraising as a scam, alleging that Lambo and Babalola were attempting to defraud Nigerians. Crucially, her story omitted the fact that the requested sum included overstay fines, not just a return ticket.
In her piece, Adeleke cited an interview with the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Qatar PRO, Johnson Nwala, yet left out key parts that contradicted her narrative.
